If you have found a topic you want to write about on your blog that you are truly interested in and you have done the relevent research then coming up with the content should be no problem right?
Unfortunatly it’s not that simple, you still have to work at it and I think most people will find that no matter how interested in the topic you are or how much you know about it, you are still, at least sometimes going to get stuck for something to write.
My advice is, if you can’t think of something for a day or two, then don’t. It is better to write without having to force it. Posting or publishing content that you struggled to compose is not going to be your best work, that’s not to say that you don’t work at it at all, just dont post random thoughts as they arrive, and don’t post off topic just because you haven’t posted in two days. If you can’t think of anything to publish, wait a few days, something will come to you.
Another thing not to do is obviously, don’t copy and I’m not just talking about the copy and paste method which is not only wrong but illegal. I’m talking about surfing for information on your topics and reading what is basically the competitions content, then going and writing content from what you have just read. Although it would be your original content in that you put your own slant on it, it isn’t really. That dosent mean you can’t check out the competition, but don’t do it with the purpose of writing your own content afterwards. I do research, I have spent the last two evenings online looking up things that interest me and yes I have gotten ideas for the future but not for my content. I want that to be original, for my content for all my projects I have a notebook that I keep around during the day when I am not online and I write my ideas down as they come, so after a day or two I take the ideas I like and write about them.
So seperate your online surfing and research from your content, if this means taking a night or two off every week from posting to your blog, there is no harm, a couple of good posts a week is better than seven unoriginal or random posts.
Take the time to research and surf because if you do have a genuine interest in your subject you would do it anyway.
If you read a book about vampires for example and then immediately went to write one yourself, how original would it really be? But if you like books about vampires and read many over time and one day in the future decided to write your own, then it is going to be original because it is a collection of your thought on the subject.
The last thing to remember is, write for people and for yourself, don’t write for the experts, they are experts for a reason (unless you happen to be one yourself) and don’t write for the search engines, keyword saturation does not make good reading.
Happy writing.
